Eight weeks with no slack. What happens if I lose a week to shifts?

The rest of the term absorbs it, but only if the plan is rebuilt straight away. In an accelerated course a lost week is an eighth of everything, so the response is triage: what is still open, what carries the most points, what can be delivered ahead of schedule next week to buy back room. Waiting a second week is what makes it unrecoverable.

Do SOAP notes come back looking like real clinical documentation?

They have to be. Nursing faculty read a note as documentation rather than an essay: subjective in the patient's own words, objective limited to measurable findings, an assessment that follows from both, and a plan covering orders, education and follow up. The most common failure is interpretation creeping into the objective section, and that is exactly what gets checked before anything comes back to you.

The week is a discussion, a quiz and a paper. How is that sequenced?

Backwards from the quiz. Reading gets done once and serves all three: the discussion goes up early in the week while the material is fresh, the quiz is prepared from the same reading, and the paper drafts across the back half rather than on the last night. Run that way, a Herzing week takes less total time than doing the three separately.

Can anything be done about the clinical hours themselves?

No, and anyone who says otherwise is worth walking away from. Hours are completed by you, at the site, with a preceptor who signs for them. What can be taken off your hands is everything around them: finding the site, the affiliation agreement, credential files, the log format your course wants and the evaluations that have to be in before the term closes.
